Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Newcastle and West Ham in race to sign Liverpool star - pundit
Alan Hutton has tipped Newcastle United and West ham to battle for the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender suggested Aston Villa, Everton and Crystal Palace would also be in the hunt for the 28-year-old.
As reported by the Daily Mail (9 May), Oxlade-Chamberlain is considering his future at Anfield after falling down the pecking order.
The midfielder is out of contract in 2023 and there have reportedly been no talks over an extension.
With a possible move on the cards this summer, Hutton suggested the 35-cap international would have no shortage of suitors.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s difficult because you want to stay at a club like Liverpool. You’re challenging for all these trophies but you want to also play your part. If that’s not happening, it’s possibly time to move elsewhere.

“West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, even the likes of Everton and Palace, all these teams are building for the future. They’re building something special as well and why would you not want to be part of that?
“He could be an integral cog for one of these teams moving forward. He’s still got a lot to give, plenty of time. The only question mark is the injuries.
“That can happen with all the stop-start, it’s difficult to get a run going. any of those teams we’ve mentioned I think would jump at the chance of bringing someone of his quality through the door.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain has played 29 times across all competitions for Liverpool this season.
However, he has started just nine league games.
