Medical expert: Jadon Sancho may need surgery after 'very painful' Man United reveal

Man United superstar Jadon Sancho may need his tonsils removed.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Sancho, 22, is not available for the Red Devils’ clash against Brentford tonight (2 May).

As quoted by club media last Friday (29 April), Ralf Rangnick revealed that the attacker could miss the rest of the season with tonsilitis.

The German interim manager also suggested that the throat infection could lead to Sancho having his tonsils removed.

United play Brighton on Saturday (7 May) and then are not in action again until their final game of the season against Crystal Palace on 22 May

Dinnery suggests that the two-week gap would be the perfect time for Sancho to have his tonsils removed.

“It can be very painful and inflamed,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Rangnick suggested that it was quite severe and that he might not return this season.

“But after these next two games, United have 15 days off before they play Crystal Palace.

“If they want to get the procedure done, that gives you an ideal window to get that done.

“There isn’t a huge amount to play for at United. They won’t exactly be desperate to get into the Europa League. That will affect how they proceed.”

Sancho has five goals and three assists since his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

United are 6th in the league table with three games to go.
