Finance guru salutes 'powerful' Man City amid 'remarkable' £619m reveal
Man City topping the Deloitte Football Money League for a second successive year shows their commercial dominance in the Premier League.
That is the view of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the latest reports of commercial revenue among the world’s biggest clubs.
Deloitte published their latest ‘Money League‘ findings last Thursday (19 January), with Man City topping the charts for a second successive year with £619million in revenue.
City’s revenue increased 13 per cent from last year’s £571million revenue, and it marks a huge increase from their £484million revenue in the Covid-hit 2020 findings.
The Premier League dominated the table, with 11 of the top 20 global teams all hailing from the top flight of English football.
Plumley believes the Premier League champions should take pride in their financial dominance, and that the latest findings show that they’re “lightyears” ahead of even their closest domestic rivals.

“Reports on revenue always reflect well on Man City,” Plumley told Football Insider.
“It shows their remarkable rise over the last decade or so.
“It does only focus on revenue, but that’s the top line of any company and there are some really impressive numbers to boast about throughout the last few years.
“I think it shows three things overall – the power of the Premier League in terms of revenue-generating clubs, it shows just how powerful Man City are within the league and it shows that they are lightyears ahead they are of some of their nearest rivals commercially at the moment.“
