Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley grasps ‘great opportunity’ with ‘huge’ new appointment - expert
Amanda Staveley’s appointment as a Premier League higher-up highlights the “extreme growth” at Newcastle United since the takeover.
That is the opinion of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about how the Magpies have quickly become part of the power dynamic in the Premier League.
The Daily Mail reported last Sunday (22 January) that Newcastle United director Staveley has been appointed to the Premier League’s new internal broadcast and access working group.
As part of her new role, Staveley will have a say on clubs’ digital rights, the Premier League’s promotional rights and broadcaster access to managers and players.
Other representatives in the group include staff from Arsenal, Manchester United, Brighton, Leicester and Manchester City.
Plumley believes the appointment will help give Newcastle a voice when it comes to policy-making in the top flight.

“It shows the immediate rise of the club since the takeover,” Plumley told Football Insider.
“Newcastle are obviously flying in the Premier League with Champions League football is a real possibility this season.
“It shows the extreme growth they’ve had in such a short time.
“So now with Amanda Staveley sat on these types of groups, it’s a huge opportunity for her to not only shape policy but look out for her own club.
“We know that happens in these situations so it’s better for Newcastle to be part of these top groups so they can have their own say.
“Overall it’s a big positive for Newcastle and it highlights just how quickly they’ve become part of the power dynamic in the Premier League.“
