'Bullish' Man City spending plan revealed as historic FFP investigation intensifies - expert
Man City will avoid changing their financial operations following the Premier League’s charges as they look to adopt a “bullish” stance.
That is the opinion of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about how the financial accusations aimed at Man City could affect their spending moving forward.
The Premier League have charged Man City with 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations over 14 seasons, following a four-year investigation.
If the charges are proven, City could face a range of sanctions under the league’s rule W.51, including a deduction of points, with the ultimate sanction being expulsion from the top flight.
Man City released an official club statement in response to the charges suggesting they were “surprised” by the charges, but that they “welcome the review of this matter”.
Plumley believes City will remain “bullish” in their response to the claims as they continue to plead their innocence during the investigation.

“There are commercial deals that have already been valued and signed so there are legal implications there,” Plumley told Football Insider.
“Man City’s response so far has been bullish and they insist that they’ve done nothing wrong and have provided evidence where necessary.
“They will likely keep to that strategy in the short term.
“Potential spending will be something everyone will be keeping an eye out for during the legal process.
“But with many of their contracts and sponsorships already in place, they’ll look to be stubborn and not shift too much early on in the investigations.“
