Finance expert: Liverpool to ‘exploit’ Premier League rule change amid source reveal
Liverpool are one of the elite Premier League clubs that will look to exploit potential changes to the domestic loan system in English football.
That is the opinion of finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about how changes to the loan system can be used to Liverpool’s advantage.
Football Insider sources revealed last Thursday (2 February) that powerful voices within the Premier League want to remove limits on the number of players allowed out on loan domestically.
The changes to the loan system emerged during negotiations between the Premier League and the EFL regarding financial distribution in the English football pyramid.
The proposals would allow sides to loan out up to four players to a single club, while players could also be sent on one-month spells and recalled in the event of managerial changes.
Plumley believes the talented group of young players at Liverpool would hugely benefit from the proposed changes.

“Liverpool are one of the teams in the Premier League with a big squad and a lot of talented young players,” Plumley told Football Insider.
“The rule changes are definitely made with the big six in mind so that more youth players can gain experience out on loan.
“The top clubs have the capability to make the most out of these changes so it makes sense that they’ll capitalise on it and try and use it to their advantage.
“They have a number of young players who will benefit hugely from game time and so I expect Liverpool and other big clubs in the Premier League to exploit these rule changes.”
