Sources: Balogun undergoes Middlesbrough medical after seven-figure Arsenal fee agreed
Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough on Tuesday after agreeing the terms of a loan move, Football Insider understands.
The 20-year-old has been given the green light to head to the Riverside Stadium after they beat a number of clubs in the race for his signature.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Boro will pay a portion of Balogun’s wages as well as a loan fee to Arsenal of around £1million.
He will be Boro’s second striker signing from the Premier League this month to bolster their play-off push after Aaron Connolly’s loan arrival from Brighton.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier on Tuesday, Middlesbrough have also agreed to extend Neil Taylor’s deal until the end of the season.
Chris Wilder’s side are currently 7th in the Championship and are undefeated in their last seven outings.

They could move into the play-off spots with victory over Reading on Saturday (15 January).
Andraz Sporar, who is currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon, is Boro’s top scorer with six goals from 20 appearances this term.
Wilder will hope the addition of Balogun can add the firepower necessary to keep the wind in the sails of their promotion challenge.
The England Under-21 man has four appearances under his belt for the Gunners this season.
He scored twice for Arsenal in six outings last term.
Balogun is under contract at the Emirates until 2025 after signing a new deal in April last year.
