Medical Guru: 'Conspiracy theorists will 'pile in' on Klopp after 'huge' Liverpool update today
The “conspiracy theorists” will be out in force after the Liverpool false positive debacle.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Liverpool were due to play Arsenal in the League Cup last week but had the clash rearranged because of a supposed Covid outbreak.
But as quoted by BBC Sport last Sunday (9 January), Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claimed there had been a “lot of false positives.”
It has since emerged that Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only player to return an accurate positive lateral flow test,
The Daily Mail reported today (11 January) that the EFL believe due process was followed and have no plans to investigate the Merseysiders.

But Dinnery expects that will not satisfy those who are convinced something untoward has gone on.
“These are unprecedented times,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Occasionally, there are issues that crop up that fall into a grey area in terms of the rules and guidelines.
“The conspiracy theorists will pile in on many of Klopp’s quotes because he’s been a huge advocate of better scheduling.
“He’s raised concerns with regards to the tight turnarounds because of the impact of Covid.
“How you police these things, I’m not sure. I don’t really see it as being an issue.
“A lot of people wrongly believed that games are called off because of Covid but it’s actually a lot more to do with the context in and around that.
“Ultimately, it’s about player availability. The Premier League makes no stipulation about Covid in particular.
“There is that grey area which clubs may or may not choose to exploit.
“You would hope that isn’t the case and that every club is doing their utmost to adhere to the current guidelines.”
Liverpool were forced to close their training complex for several days amid the quasi-outbreak.
The clash against Arsenal will now take place on Thursday (13 January).
