David Moyes' pal: Tomas Soucek set for showdown talks after West Ham source reveal

Tomas Soucek may be set for showdown talks with David Moyes in the coming weeks to resolve his West Ham future, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City defender and friend of Moyes insisted the manager will smooth over his relationship with the 27-year-old.

A West Ham source told Football Insider on Thursday (26 May) that there has been a fallout between the pair behind the scenes and Soucek’s future is uncertain.

His current contract expires in the summer of 2024 and the tension with Moyes has led to talks over a new deal to stall.

The Hammers may have to cash in this summer to get the maximum value for the midfielder who has been an almost untouchable in the starting XI since his move from Slavia Prague in January 2020.

Asked for his verdict on Soucek’s future, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “David Moyes is very experienced.

“I’m sure that will be sorted out and dealt with smoothly sooner rather than later.

“He’s very experienced at that level. Stuart Pearce is obviously moving on and leaving but there’s some great staff around there as well.

“It’s a storm in a teacup I would suggest and I think that will be sorted out very, very soon.”

Soucek has played 105 times across all competitions for West Ham, including 34 Premier League starts this season.

The Czech Republic international has only missed 11 games across all competitions for the Hammers since his arrival.
