'Shambolic' Man United chiefs slammed after source's Ralf Rangnick update - pundit
Danny Mills has slammed the “shambolic” Man United hierarchy for failing to act as the middle man between Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed the lack of communication between the pair is not their fault and there should have been a clear go-between.
Rangnick, 64, told the BBC’s Match of the Day programme after his side’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season (22 May) that he did not know Ten Hag was at Selhurst Park.
Ten Hag, 52, revealed in his unveiling press conference the next day (23 May), via the Athletic, that his predecessor’s new role is “down to the club”.
A Man United source told Football Insider on Friday (27 May) that Rangnick will work six days a month in his consultancy role at Old Trafford.
“That’s down to the hierarchy above them.

“It just shows how much of a shambles it’s been at Man United this season that whoever sits above them can’t communicate with the two of them.
“You’ve got the current coach who will be the consultant and the new coach coming in, there must be someone above that, did they forget to communicate it? Did they forget to tell them? It seems ridiculous.
“It’s not necessarily just on those two. You’ve got to look at those above those two and what they have to do.”
As well as his consultancy role at United, Rangnick will also be in charge of the Austria national team.
He ended his interim charge as the Reds boss with a win rate of just 37.9 per cent from 29 games across all competitions.
