Man City on course for points deduction as investigation launched - expert
Danny Mills has called for Man City to be docked points if there is a repeat of the scenes on the pitch after they beat Aston Villa 3-2 last weekend to secure the Premier League title (22 May).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England defender slammed the “mindless idiots” who attacked Robin Olsen in the immediate aftermath of the game.
As relayed by the Guardian after the game, the club apologised to the Villa goalkeeper and had launched an investigation into the incident.
City scored three goals past Olsen in five minutes towards the end of the game after trailing 2-0 to win their fourth league title in five seasons.
“I don’t get it,” Mills told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“I understand fans coming on and celebrating, I get that point. But it’s your team that’s won, you should be joyous and celebrating not goading the opposition. There’s no real rivalry between Man City and Villa.

“I don’t understand what these people are thinking and what goes through their heads. They are mindless idiots and that’s all you can put it down to.
“If they are not careful they are going to ruin it for everybody else.
“It should be three strikes and you are out. Find the people and ban them. If it happens again it will be one game behind closed doors and again after that, it will be five games. It’s up to the club to invest in stewarding and get the right messaging across.
“If it happens three times then you are probably looking at a points deduction. If it gets to that point then something’s not right.
“Fans are only hurting themselves. If they can’t go to the game and behave and they start to lose points because of it, they’ve only got themselves to blame.
“I understand pitch invasions of a good nature, to a point. But when it’s your team that’s won and you’ve got no direct rivalry with the opposition and you’re goading them, what is wrong with you?”
