West Ham hit by transfer blow as David Moyes 'angry' at confirmed news - pundit
Players will think twice about signing for West Ham after they finished outside the top-six and missed out on Europa League football, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and Leeds United full-back claimed the promise of going “one better” in the Europa League would have helped lure players to the London Stadium.
West Ham would have leapfrogged Man United into sixth on the final day of the Premier League season (22 May) if they had beaten Brighton & Hove Albion.
They lost 3-1 at the Amex to finish seventh and qualify for the Europa Conference League.
As quoted by BBC Sport after the game, David Moyes revealed he was “angry with his players” and there was a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window.
Asked whether that will be a blow in the transfer window, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think it will be.

“They could have said ‘We got to the semi-final of the Europa League we want to go one better’.
“Now it’s ‘Come and join us, you can play in the Conference League’. Some of the teams in that I’ve never heard of, to be honest.
“It’s not the most glamorous. Until you get to the quarter-final, semi-final stage.
“It’s not so much the money because playing in the Europa League is not great money, there’s not huge TV rights or any of that but it’s kudos and what you can offer incoming players.
“They will be looking at the Conference League and going ‘Oh, that’s not amazing, I’m not sure I fancy that one’.”
