Mills issues 'scary' Man City claim after update on two Erling Haaland allies signing
Man City will be well on course for another “incredibly special” Premier League title if they sign a defensive midfielder and left-back this summer.
That is the view of ex-City and England full-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Pep Guardiola’s plan to “reinvent” his side were reported.
The Telegraph reported last week (30 May) that Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips and Marc Cucurella of Brighton & Hove Albion are both targets this summer.
They’ve already added Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51million to the squad that won a fourth Premier League title in five seasons during the 2021-22 campaign.
“Haaland coming in is scary enough as it is,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“This is where Pep has been good, he has been able to shuffle the pack, replace players and reinvent the team.

“He’s done it several times already and this is the first time that Jurgen Klopp is going to have to do it and we’ll see if he can do it.
“This is why I think Pep is great. Yes, he’s had money to do it but you still have to pick the right players to fit in, the right characters.
“Now with Haaland in, City have to be favourites for the Premier League. Three in a row, obviously Man United have done it before. To do that and equal Man United’s record would be something incredibly special.
“That’s the motivation for the season ‘Go and win three in a row. Go and put yourself up there with the best of all time’.
“Three in a row and five out of six would be nothing short of sensational.”
