West Ham news: Mills sure where Jarrod Bowen will be next season amid 'unbelievable' Liverpool reveal

Danny Mills has insisted Jarrod Bowen will be a West Ham player in the 2022-23 season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Man City defender claimed Bowen’s performances for the national team will mean clubs like Liverpool will not try and sign him.

The 25-year-old made his Three Lions debut in the 1-0 loss to Hungary last week (4 June) and played 10 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Germany on Monday (7 June).

As quoted by the Mirror earlier this year (4 March), Jurgen Klopp labelled Bowen as “incredible” amid Liverpool’s reported interest.

Asked whether they could step up their interest now Bowen has played for England, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “No, I think he will be staying at West Ham.

“I don’t see him going anywhere else this summer.

“I thought he did OK in a game where England were pretty poor. He was in the space to get good chances, he had four good chances and didn’t put any of them away. If Harry Kane, gets those four chances he puts three of them away.

“Unfortunately that’s how you are judged at the elite level. Liverpool will be looking at that and think ‘Can we get better than that?’

“If Luis Diaz is in those chances, he probably scores three out of four of them.

“Jarrod Bowen is a very, very good player but he’s not quite in that elite section of players yet. Maybe it will come but that might take another season at West Ham.”

Bowen was called up to the England squad after a fine 2021-22 campaign with West Ham.

He scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 51 games across all competitions as the Hammers got to the Europa League semi-final and finished seventh in the Premier League.

In other news, West Ham have made a move to sign an Everton star with 31 Premier League starts last season.
