Finance guru: The 'potential is endless' for Man United as Glazers takeover on the cards

The potential is “endless” for Man United in untapped markets like India as the Glazers look to launch a multi-club network.

So says finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the global ambitions of United’s American owners.

Football acquisitions expert Jeremy Steele told iNews last Friday (31 December) that the Glazers want to add a second club to their portfolio.

The US-based financiers own NFL outfit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and fell short in a bid to buy an IPL cricket franchise in December (2021).

Plumley claims that India or South America would be a perfect destination for the Glazers to embark on their second foray into football.

“For the clubs with money and global appeal, it’s a no-brainer,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“If you’re in that position, it opens up doors for player movement and player development. It also opens up commercial opportunities in different markets.

“The commercial aspect, in particular, can lead to bigger revenues. A lot of the bigger clubs are doing it.

“Market-wise, there is a lot of interest in South America at the moment. Brazil, Argentina, Mexico as well.

“The other big market is the Indian market. The potential there is endless, and it remains untapped.

“Interestingly, the Glazers were looking at an IPL cricket franchise recently. You can see why other big clubs are doing this.”

Man United are currently 7th in the league table after their 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves last night (3 December).

That was interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s first defeat at the helm.
