Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah may have struck behind-the-scenes agreements after Liverpool latest - pundit

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane may have already agreed to stay at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp extended his contract until 2026, according to Kevin Phillips.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the pair have a strong bond with the 54-year-old German.

Liverpool confirmed last week (28 April) that Klopp will remain at Anfield until 2026.

Meanwhile, Mane and Salah’s deals are set to expire at the end of next season.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (29 April), Klopp insisted his extension will not be “decisive” on any potential player renewals.

When asked if Klopp’s contract will have influenced Mane and Salah’s situation despite the German’s comments, Phillips told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I would have thought so.

“From the outside looking in, it looks like they get on so well with Klopp. They’ve still got many years at the top, and he’s obviously signed until 2026.

“Why would you want to break that up?

“Klopp signing would suggest to me that he’s had a word with those two before committing to the club.

“Him putting the pen to paper could mean they’ve all agreed to stay at the club for a while longer, and if they do – then Liverpool will be a force for a long, long time in the Premier League.”

Football Insider revealed last month (17 April) that Liverpool are planning to offer Mane a new contract – but will not break the bank to keep him.

This site also revealed (9 April) that the Reds are close to a breakthrough in talks with Salah.
