Arsenal news: This is 'the most important thing' in Gabriel Jesus swoop after fresh twist - pundit

Gabriel Jesus could sign for Arsenal over Tottenham if Mikel Arteta promises to make the Brazillian the “main man” at the Emirates Stadium. according to Kevin Phillips.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old has got a “big decision” to make following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign.

According to The Telegraph (23 May), Tottenham are set to battle Arsenal for Jesus this summer after beating them to a Champions League berth.

Talks have reportedly already taken place between representatives, and the report claims the Brazil international is “interested in the project” under Arteta.

Arsenal are set to lose their two senior strikers with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to run out of contract – but Jesus would need to displace Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, and Dejan Kulusevski at Tottenham.

Phillips suggested the striker has had enough of being a “bit-part player” after his time at City.
