Allardyce: This is what will get me sacked at Everton

Sam Allardyce has revealed that making bad signings will get him sacked at Everton as he plans a January clear out.

In an interview with The Guardian the Toffees boss shared that he is going to evaluate his squad and decide who is surplus to requirements before making his first signing.

Allardyce insisted his first signing, “has to be correct for Everton and for my future here – make bad signings and you get the sack, it’s that simple.

“If every player is honest enough when I finally get through the one-on-ones they will tell me if they want to stay or they don’t.

“If you are going to be honest with the manager, or if they want to leave it a bit longer and see how it goes to January, then I’ll deal with it.”

Everton have a squad of 31 players when everyone is fit, so Allardyce will conduct face-to-face meetings in order to work out who to sell.

The Toffees boss insisted that he’ll only keep players who want to be at the club and that everyone will have an opportunity to prove themselves.

Allardyce has made signing a proven goalscorer his top priority after the club failed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer.

The Everton manager believes the hardest thing to recruit is someone who scores goals, but added Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse have done well this season.

Allardyce is expecting Sandro Ramirez to contribute “a bit more” if the club are unable to bring anyone in, despite reports suggesting the striker is going to leave the club.

The Toffees have been linked with two prolific strikers ahead of the window opening, Vincent Aboubakar and Richmond Boakye.
