Moyes set to make first West Ham transfer decision, bargain Bundesliga deal on the cards - report

David Moyes will not stand in the way of Reece Oxford leaving West Ham in January, as Borussia Monchengladbach want to sign the defender permanently, according to a report.

The Sun reports that Oxford is currently on loan at the Bundesliga side and the club wants to keep the player despite him only playing one minute of football this season.

The defender was set to return to the Hammers in January, but the report states that a cut-price £6million deal could be agreed between the clubs to keep him in Germany.

West Ham had previously rejected a £10million bid for Oxford from RB Leipzig in 2016 with Manchester United and Liverpool also interested at that time.

Oxford was once an asset to West Ham when he first burst on to the scene, however after rejecting a contract extension with the club; he has made his intentions clear. The young defender does not see himself at the Hammers in the future, and with the club facing relegation, Moyes needs players dedicated to the cause. Oxford is only 18-years-old and could develop into an amazing defender, but there’s no point the club fighting to keep someone who wants to leave. It does seem odd that Borussia Monchengladbach are keen to sign the defender when they’ve only played him for one minute this season – they obviously see potential for the future.

In other West Ham news, the club have reportedly been offered the chance to snap up this Premier League striker in January.
