Nottingham Forest hold talks with Championship left-back, available for free - report

Nottingham Forest are plotting a move for defender Jack Robinson this summer, according to a report.

The Nottingham Post report that former-Queens Park Rangers defender Robinson recently turned down a new contract offer at his former employers and would be available on a free transfer.

The report claims that Nottingham Forest are at the ‘front of the queue’ for the former-Liverpool left-back’s signature after holding ‘positive talks’, who is also attracting Premier League interest.

The 24-year-old made 31 appearances at QPR last season, scoring two goals as the London club finished in 16th place in the Championship, just about Forest.

Jack Robinson was once heralded as one of the next big things at Liverpool, a young left-back with a great left-foot, good energy and confident on the ball. However, it’s extremely difficult to break into the first-team of a big club like the Liverpool, so it never really worked out for him there, making just 11 appearances in his time at Anfield. He had loan moves to Wolves and Blackpool, where he impressed and eventually moved to QPR on a permanent deal in 2014. Considering the interest that Robinson is generating, specifically from Championship and Premier League teams, it would be a massive coup for Nottingham Forest if they were to get him, which proves their ambitions this season. Forest boss Aitor Karanka desperately needs a good option at left-back so he should be delighted if he is to seal this deal, especially on a free transfer, it’s an absolute no-brainer.
