Wolves midfielder set to depart, imminent exit expected - report
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ben Marshall will join Norwich City imminently, according to a report.
The Express & Star claim that the 27-year-old will complete a transfer to the Canaries at some point today, bringing his year-and-a-half association with the club to an end.
The report claims that the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder is not in Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for next season. Marshall was brought to Molineux by the previous boss Paul Lambert but has not found himself in favour under the Portuguese.
Football Insider verdict:
This move has been expected for a long time. Ben Marshall was signed under a previous manager and the new manager clearly didn’t fancy him, so he’s had to move on for the good of his career. This impending move to Norwich City will hopefully help Marshall back to form, as when he’s in the groove he’s an exciting player at this level. The 27-year-old went on-loan to Millwall for the second-half of last season in order to get some game time. He made 16 appearances for the London club in the league, scoring three goals and providing five assists, in what was a small glimpse of what he’s capable of. For Wolves, it’s a move that needed to be made. He’s now off their wage bill and they can concentrate on planning for a season in the Premier League next year, with a number of transfers expected to be made before the window shuts.
In other Wolves transfer news, they are in the hunt to sign a £1.7million-a-year playmaker.
