'I can only ask the question' - Kenny Miller wants to take Rangers players on loan

Newly appointed Livingston Kenny Miller, who left Rangers in controversial circumstances, has admitted that he will ask his former club if he can take some Gers youngsters to his new club on loan.

The 38-year-old made the shock revelation after he was named the boss of the side who won promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season.

Miller, who left Ibrox after a huge row with then manager Graeme Murty in April, has admitted that he doesn’t know what answer he will get from his former club about the loan moves.

“I can only ask the question” he said, as quoted by the Scotsman.

“You have to exercise every possible avenue when you are looking to strengthen a team. When you are on a limited budget sometimes you will be looking for a little help from people.”

If you ask most Rangers fans, they will probably say that they hope the club doesn’t give Kenny Miller any players on loan. His departure from Ibrox in the summer was particularly acrimonious, and there is a sense that fans still haven’t forgiven him for what happened. However, Steven Gerrard and Gers director of football Mark Allen might well feel differently about the situation, and there is already one Gers player at Livingston on loan – Ryan Hardie – although it should be said that this deal was completed before Miller got the player/manager job at Livingston. If Gerrard and Allen think that a player could benefit under the tutelage of Miller, then they surely would have no hesitation about allowing the player to complete the move to the Scottish Premiership side. Regular first-team football is more important than sitting in the stands, and if a move to Miller’s side gets some young players some game time Gerrard and Allen will be all for that.
