29y/o Rangers flop happy to bed in at club but would consider summer loan move - report
Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera is set to knock back a move to Mexico, and is happy to stay with the Light Blues, according to a report.
The Daily Express claims that a number of sides in Mexico are interested in signing the 29-year-old, but he is content to stay at Ibrox for the team being, even though the club would prefer that he left in the summer.
The story goes on to claim that he would consider leaving on loan in the transfer window, but only to a league in Europe.
Herrera only made 24 appearances for the Gers last season, scoring two goals in the process.
Football Insider verdict
It looks like for the time being the Gers are going to be stuck with Eduardo Herrera on their books, which has got to be irritating to manager Steven Gerrard. Gerrard will be looking to get as many of the players signed by Pedro Caixinha who have no future at Ibrox out the door as soon as possible, but that might not be the case with Herrera. The Gers have so far managed to successfully navigate the summer transfer window, bringing in plenty of new players, but it isn’t always as easy to move on players on big contracts who were signed before Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen move to Ibrox. The Light Blues might have to be content with getting the Mexican out on loan for the rest of the season, as it would get him off the books for a while at least. There is no doubt that Gerrard and Allen would prefer if Herrera left the Gers on a permanent basis, but that might not be possible at this moment in time.
