West Ham playmaker Lanzini ruled out for 15 months through injury - report

West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini is set to miss all of the 2018/19 season due to a knee injury, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror report that the 25-year-old playmaker is set to be out for 15 months and is thought to be devastated after hearing the prognosis.

The newspaper state that the Hammers previously thought Lanzini could be back in time to play a part in their 2018/19 campaign but his injury will now keep him out longer then first estimated.

Football Insider Verdict:

This is devastating news for the Hammers and for Lanzini. The 25-year-old is a fantastic player who has been instrumental for the Hammers in recent seasons and they will miss him greatly. Lanzini had developed into a key player for the club and it was an exciting prospect to see him work under an experience boss like Manuel Pellegrini. Yet it seems fans are going to have to wait to see that happen as the injury the midfielder suffered while with Argentina is clearly worse than previously thought. While Lanzini will no doubt be keen to get back as quickly as possible, given the nature of his injury he needs to be protected. Knee injuries are serious business and have a tendency to shorten careers and reoccur if not given enough time to heal. It may be a huge blow to be without him for 15 months but the club must now find away to cope without him for the season. It seems Pellegrini will have no choice but to enter the transfer market in search for a replacement after this report.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have reportedly seen a £12million bid rejected for an in-demand defender.
