Everton attacker Wayne Rooney is on the verge of completing a move to MLS side DC United, according to reports.
ESPN report that the 32-year-old forward is close to accepting a move to DC United after further talks between both parties.
The Daily Mirror claim that Rooney has agreed a two-year deal worth in the region of £12.5million, undergone a medical and applied for a US visa as well as a work permit.
According to the national newspaper the current Toffees veteran is set to complete his move to DC United within the next 48 hours.
Football Insider Verdict:
It seems this lengthy transfer saga regarding Rooney is finally coming to a close. The 32-year-old, according to the Mirror, is still reluctant to leave his beloved Everton but has made the decision as he is not part of Marco Silva’s first-team plans for next season. It seems the Toffees are more than comfortable at waving goodbye to Rooney as they have waived a transfer fee in order to help the move go through. While Rooney’s return to the club may have had its ups and downs and lasted only a season, hopefully supporters will have some fond memories to take from his second spell at the club. The experienced attacker did manage to score 10 goals in 31 league appearances for the Merseyside club last season and did submit some performances that were worth applauding. While there were some displays that fans would sooner forget, Rooney’s passion during the 2017/18 campaign cannot be faltered. It may not have been the fairytale return everyone hoped for but there have been worst signings made in the club’s history.
