Wolves in hunt for Quintero - report

Wolves are plotting an ambitious swoop for FC Porto attacking midfielder Juan Quintero, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror report that Wolves face competition for the 25-year-old, who is currently starring at the World Cup for Colombia, from Real Madrid and Tottenham.

The newspaper state that superagent Jorge Mendes, who is closely connected to Wolves’ owner, is working hard behind the scenes to try and get a deal done for Quintero.

This would be a fantastic signing by Wolves if they welcomed Quintero to the club. The 25-year-old has scored one goal, while grabbing two assists, in three games for his nation at the World Cup and has rightly had the spotlight put upon him due to his excellent displays. It seems Wolves’ connection to Mendes may see them beat off some tough competition for the player’s signature and this is an exciting prospect. Quintero spent last season on loan at River Plate registering three assists in 16 appearances but after a confidence-boosting World Cup he will no doubt have a better return in his 2018/19 season. Also the attacking midfielder will no doubt be able to settle quickly in at the English club as Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who used to play and manage Porto, knows Quintero already due to his connections at the club. The 25-year-old is set to play England on Tuesday in the World Cup and it seems Wolves fans should keep an eye on his performance as he may soon be signed by the club.
