Joey Barton gives verdict on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after heated post-match exchange

Joey Barton has taken to social media to give his view on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s controversial post-match interview after the Merseyside derby.

The Liverpool boss was involved in a fiery exchange with Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison after the 1-1 draw at Anfield, which saw Everton claim an unlikely share of the points after a controversial penalty decision.

The pair were involved in a heated discussion, after Davinson admitted that he agreed with referee Craig Pawson’s decision to award a spot-kick, after centre-back Dejan Lovren pushed Toffees forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin inside the box.

Former Premier League midfielder Barton took to Twitter to give his take on the conversational interview.

Klopp was furious with the penalty decision both on the touchline and during his post-match chat with Davison and Barton said he could understand the Liverpool manager’s frustration.

Barton also praised broadcaster Davison for the way he handled the situation and for asking Klopp some “tough” questions.

Liverpool went ahead after 42 minutes through a spectacular effort by Mohamed Salah and had plenty of chances to make it 2-0 before the Toffees were awarded the penalty in the second half.

Everton captain Wayne Rooney smashed the spot-kick straight down the middle to give the away side an unlikely share of the points, much to frustration of the home crowd.

In other Liverpool news, Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on the penalty decision.
