Michael Owen predicts Tottenham v Juventus, highlights one big Spurs weakness

Michael Owen revealed that he thinks Tottenham have an “outstanding chance” against Juventus in the Champions League knockout stage but did have slight reservations about them progressing.

Speaking on BT Sport, the pundit complimented Spurs’ starting eleven by saying they have players that “could hurt anyone”, but he doubted their depth in squad.

“They’ve got a very very strong team, starting eleven, but I don’t think their squad is massive,” said Owen.

“As long as they’re fit and healthy before this, I think it’s a toss of a coin game, I couldn’t really make anyone favourites.”

Spurs are set to play Juventus for the first time in a competitive match, when they meet on February 13 for the first leg.

Tottenham will host the second leg on March 7 at Wembley, in between playing Huddersfield and Bournemouth in the league.

Owen’s prediction for Spurs’ game with Juventus is similar to Danny Murphy who also shared that keeping key players fit for the tie is key.

Tottenham have already recorded memorable victories in the Champions League this season, defeating Real Madrid 3-1 and beating Borussia Dortmund in both meetings.

Spurs topped their group whereas Juventus finished runners-up in theirs to Barcelona, who are the only team to beat them in the competition this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have performed better in the Champions League than the Premier League this season, as they sit sixth.

Tottenham are 18 points off the league leaders Manchester City and two points off Liverpool who take up the last Champions League qualification spot.
