Sources: Fulham open talks to sign Sevilla star Ocampos

Fulham are in talks to sign Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos, sources have told Football Insider.

Marco Silva’s recruitment team have opened negotiations over a deal to land the big-name attacker, 28, this summer.

Ocampos is entering the final year of his contract at Sevilla and Fulham are hoping to lure the right-sided winger to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Ajax as he was brought in to replace Antony following his move to Man United.

However, the loan was cut short in the January window to allow Ocampos to return to Sevilla – and he played a key role in helping the Spanish side win the Europa League once again with victory over Roma in the final.

Ocampos predominantly plays on the left side of the attack, although also regularly features on the right.

In addition to his 79 appearances for Sevilla, the Argentina international also managed 132 appearances for Marseille and played 96 times for Monaco.

He managed five goals and two assists in 35 games across all competitions for Sevilla and Ajax in the 2022-23 campaign.

Ocampos is not the only winger on Fulham’s radar.

Football Insider revealed earlier (8 June) that the Cottagers also have an active interest in signing Wolfsburg star Patrick Wimmer and were plotting a move.

Club scouts have been sent to watch the winger, 22, on multiple occasions this season amid interest from around Europe and in the Premier League.

Fulham are looking to strengthen in a number of positions as part of a strong summer window following a brilliant 2022-23 campaign.
