Sources: Three Liverpool stars ruled out of Real Madrid clash as new injury revealed
Liverpool are set to be without Jordan Henderson for their Champions League trip to Real Madrid after he missed open training on Tuesday, sources have told Football Insider.
The club captain has been struggling with illness this week and was absent from the Reds’ final session before flying out to the Spanish capital, along with rising star Stefan Bajcetic.
However, while Bajcetic has been cleared to fly despite previously contending with a new injury, Henderson has been left out entirely.
And he joins three other Liverpool senior stars in missing the second leg of the Reds’ last-16 tie against Real.
Thiago Alcantara remains sidelined as he continues to battle a hip flexor problem that will keep him out until after the international break.
The same goes for Luis Diaz, though he is stepping up his individual work with a view to resuming full team training in the next two weeks.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are hoping to pull off an unlikely comeback in Spain after being beaten 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield last month.
Klopp has, however, received a defensive boost ahead of taking on that mammoth task, with Joe Gomez now back in training and available for selection.
The Englishman has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury in the latter stages of the first leg.
Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all also involved in training on Tuesday despite having missed out on a place in the squad for Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth.
It remains to be seen what role the latter pair play over the remainder of the season as they prepare to leave on free transfers at the end of the season.
Liverpool predicted XI vs Real Madrid: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.
