David Moyes is planning to quit West Ham at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Scot, 60, will have another year left on his contract at the end of a topsy-turvy campaign which could end with the club’s first trophy in 43 years.

It is believed that Moyes now wants the Europa Conference Final against Fiorentina on 7 June to be his West Ham swansong irrespective of the match’s outcome.

Moyes wants to leave the club on his own terms and return to his family home in Lancashire.

Another major factor in his thinking is that he has lost two key allies at West Ham in recent seasons, trusted assistants Alan Irvine and Stuart Pearce.

It is understood that Moyes has not developed the same rapport with their replacements at the club.

The former Man United and Everton boss has been under huge pressure to keep his job at various times this season but has managed to pull out results just when the axe was close.

West Ham have not only pulled clear of the drop zone with two matches of the campaign remaining but have also punched above their weight in Europe.

They will contest only the club’s third major European final in their history as they aim to secure what would be only their second European trophy.

Barring a change of heart, it appears that Moyes‘ second spell at the club is likely to come to an end following the 7 June showdown.

That has at least ensured that, whatever happens, the Scot will be fondly remembered by Irons following a second spell at the club that has reached impressive heights.
