Kieran Maguire shares astonishing Everton FFP reveal
It may take an astonishing ‘four years’ for Everton to be given their FFP verdict based on previous cases in English football.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that a ‘correct decision’ in financial investigations is more important than a ‘hasty’ one.
As reported by The Independent, Premier League clubs are ‘furious’ over delays to financial cases at Everton and Man City.
Both clubs are currently under investigation for alleged Financial Fair Play breaches, with the Premier League issuing 115 charges to City while Everton allegedly breached the league’s profit and sustainability rules in 2021/22.
Had punishments been handed out this season, it would have had a major impact on the league standings with City winning the title and the Toffees avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.
Maguire understands the frustration of teams that were relegated ahead of Everton but insists that investigations in the EFL show that it takes time to reach a correct decision.

“I think it’s important that the correct decision is made rather than a hasty decision,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“It will take time for Everton’s council to fully address the charges and put together a defence that they feel is appropriate.
“In terms of precedent, it took four years for the EFL to reach a settlement with QPR when they were promoted to the Premier League in 2014.
“So I don’t anticipate a quick decision, but I can understand why other clubs who have been relegated would be furious.
“But it didn’t happen last season when Burnley and Leeds pushed for action, so it wasn’t going to be enforced this season either.
“We all have to balance what we want and what is realistic.“
