Revealed: Man United now confident they will beat Liverpool to Mason Mount deal

Man United are growing in confidence about the potential signing of Chelsea’s Mason Mount this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils have not yet reached a full agreement for the 24-year-old with Liverpool still keen on agreeing a deal.

It is believed that Mount himself is yet to make up his mind on his future – despite the confidence of Old Trafford chiefs.

Sources told Football Insider earlier this month (15 May) that new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino will set sit down with Mount in an attempt to persuade him to extend his Stamford Bridge stay.

However, it is believed that Chelsea will sell the England international if no agreement can be reached.

Sources have told Football Insider (24 May) that the Blues are believed to be looking for a deal worth around £70m, with Mount entering the final year of his contract.

The midfielder, who scored three goals in 35 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, has failed to agree a new deal at Chelsea despite months of negotiations.

This site revealed earlier this year (15 February) that he has demanded to be paid a similar wage to top-earning Chelsea stars like Raheem Sterling and Reece James.

Mount, who currently earns a reported £80,000-a-week, is one of a number of options being considered by Man United and Erik ten Hag.

The Old Trafford club have also been credited with an interest in the likes of Tyler Adams, Davide Frattesi, and Amadou Onana in recent weeks.

Football Insider revealed last week (26 May) that Scott McTominay is considering his future with the club amid fears he could drop further down the pecking order should new signings come in.

Should the Scotland international leave the club, Ten Hag’s midfield options would consist of Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen – with Marcel Sabitzer set to return to Bayern Munich when his loan deal expires.
