David Lynch: PGMOL make suspension decision after their own Liverpool-Andy Robertson investigation
The PGMOL will consider Constantine Hatzidakis to officiate a Premier League game from next week after an FA investigation into his clash with Andy Robertson was concluded, sources told Football Insider.
The FA confirmed on Thursday that it will be taking no further action against Hatzidakis after he appeared to catch Robertson with an elbow during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield last Sunday.
The 38-year-old apologised for his actions over a Zoom called held earlier this week and later explained to a disciplinary panel that he had only meant to shrug off the Liverpool defender.
Hatzidakis was suspended straight after the Liverpool match and wasn’t available for selection when the PGMOL chose its official for this weekend’s fixtures.
However, he will now be available for the Premier League matches on the weekend of 22 and 23 April.
His statement read: “I look forward to returning to officiating matches.

“I fully assisted the FA with their investigation and have discussed the matter directly with Andy Robertson during an open and positive conversation.
“It was certainly not my intention to make any contact with Andy as I pulled my arm away from him and for that I have apologised.
“I look forward to returning to officiating matches.”
Despite the FA clearing Hatzidakis, the PGMOL had the option to take its own action further to the suspension handed down in the immediate aftermath of Sunday’s game.
However, Football Insider understands that the refereeing body consider the matter closed and will allow Hatzidakis to return when the selections for next weekend’s games are made.
Reflecting on the news at his pre-Leeds United press conference, Jurgen Klopp welcomed the manner in which the controversy was handled.
He said: “I think it’s been dealt with really well in the end. I wasn’t aware of it during the game, I got the news afterwards.
“I spoke to Robbo and think it has been dealt with really well”
