'Phwoar, I want to be like that' - Alan Hutton drools over enthusiasm of Villa teammate in 18/19

EXCLUSIVE

Alan Hutton has revealed how he was blown away by the enthusiasm and talent of Tammy Abraham at Aston Villa last season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Villa defender explained how the striker was a breath of fresh at the club during his campaign on loan from Chelsea.

Abraham banged in 26 goals from 42 matches for Dean Smith’s side during their promotion campaign and won over his teammates behind the scenes before returning to his parent club.

“Just as a guy, first and foremost, such a happy guy who just loves playing football and that rubbed off on people,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“Even me being older, seeing a guy who is so young, so enthusiastic about playing it really made me think: ‘Phwoar, I remember when I was like that, I want to be like that again.’

“Just a great guy to start off with but technically brilliant, he had everything; first touch, height, power, could finish. We all knew he was going to be a massive asset and for us to go forward, we believed he could score the goals that we needed.”

Asked if Abraham had become too good for the Championship, Hutton replied: “In my opinion, yeah. I think he deserves an opportunity (at Chelsea). He’s went out on loan a lot. obviously with things that are surrounding Chelsea at the moment means that Frank Lampard has to use the young boys and I think that he’s proved, in the lower levels, that he can score goals.

“Now you look at him, he’s upped his game again, he’s got the number 9 shirt which is probably heavy in itself and he started scoring goals but I always knew he could.”

Abraham has made a big impact at Chelsea this season, starting all four of their Premier League matches and scoring four goals, including doubles in each of their last two games.

In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that Dean Smith has given the green light for the club to sell one of his signings.
