Rangers revolution of transfer process could go horribly wrong - Hutton

The massive recruitment shake up at Rangers could go horribly wrong if not executed properly.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton urged the Light Blues to be careful about their methods of finding new players and not focus solely on statistics and video footage.

After sporting director Ross Wilson left his role last season to take up a job at Premier League club Nottingham Forest, Beale told the Ibrox board not to hire a replacement as he would be dealing with their summer recruitment drive.

The Gers brought in nine new arrivals in the most recent window, four attackers, a goalkeeper, two midfielders and two defenders.

According to the Daily Record (8 September), the Glasgow giants are moving towards a new method of player recruitment that moves towards a more data and video-led operation.

The change will see the Gers move away from having scouts on the ground to a process driven by data and video analysis followed up by scouts being sent to watch players in person.

When asked if he was pleased about the move from Rangers, Hutton told Football Insider:The one thing for me is that it does not always come down to stats.

Yes it gives you a good indication of what you are looking for. All the information is good information to make up a profile on a player but you have to look into their personality.

What I like about Michael Beale is he says that he talks to these players, sees them face to face and gets to know their character.

I think the best way moving forward is if you use all the options available to you then you can get the best picture. If this improves things moving forward then of course it is a good idea.
