Scott Brown told to reject Celtic offer - expert

Returning to Celtic would be a step down for club legend Scott Brown.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton could see Brown becoming Hoops manager in a few years but insisted he will be taking a break from management.

The former Celtic captain was sacked as manager of Fleetwood Town last week after a dismal start to their League One campaign.

Brown took charge of Fleetwood in May last year and made history at the club by leading them to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time.

But the ex-Scotland international had a difficult start to his second season in charge, losing five of his six League One games before being sacked by the club.

When asked if the Hoops could offer Brown a role within their ranks, Hutton told Football Insider:I think everything that Scott Brown has done for the club over the years he will go down as a club legend, a huge figure for them.

All the trophies he has won, he was the captain, he has been an unbelievable servant for them. I think it would be difficult when you are out there as a manager to then come back and have a lesser job or lesser input within a team.

It would not surprise me if down the line he was a Celtic manager. I think he has got that real connection to the club and maybe that is something to look out for in a few years.

I think Scott Brown will want to take a few weeks off and evaluate everything that happened to become a better coach. I do not think he would jump into something right away.
