Hutton has Matondo 'question marks' after 'speaking to Rangers fans'
Rabbi Matondo is not good enough to fill the void left by Ryan Kent at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said there are question marks surrounding Matondo’s ability to be a regular starter for Michael Beale.
The 23-year-old joined the Ibrox club from Schalke last summer and made just 15 Scottish Premiership appearances last term, starting just six of those outings.
This season, Matondo has made seven appearances across all competitions so far and started to first Old Firm clash at Ibrox earlier this month.
Beale added several attacking reinforcements to his squad this summer after losing key players such as Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos following the expiration of their contracts.
But Hutton suggested Matondo is not ready to step up to Kent’s level just yet.

“I have really been in his corner,” he told Football Insider.
“I really like him as a player and he definitely brings something different to that squad at this moment in time. He has got real pace, real energy and he will give you 110 per cent always.
“Where I sit on the fence is that he has had starts and he has been in and out of games. Is he an impact player? When I speak to other Rangers fans it is the same kind of question marks.
“He comes off the bench and gives you everything. The next stage for him is to be that main starter and test if he can do it for a long period of time. I think he has got the ability to take over from Ryan Kent but he does have competition there.“
