Tottenham have ruined Djed Spence's Leeds United loan after confirmed news - expert
Tottenham have been dealt a huge blow as Djed Spence set for two months on the sidelines for Leeds United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton suggested Spence’s lack of minutes for the London club may have made him more injury prone.
The 23-year-old joined the Lilywhites from Middlesbrough last summer and spent the second half of last season on loan at Stade Rennais after struggling for a place in the first team under Antonio Conte.
Spence joined Leeds this summer on a season-long loan deal for the 2023-24 campaign.
The defender has played just nine minutes for the Whites so far this season and the club confirmed (18 September) that he is facing eight weeks on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury.
Hutton suggested Spence’s injury is a double blow for both clubs.

“You do not want to see any player within your squad get injured whether they are out on loan or playing in your team,” he told Football Insider.
“He was sent out for a reason to get as many minutes as possible and sometimes I think that can be the problem.
“You have come from your club and not played a lot of minutes to go to a team where they are expecting you to play every minute possible and then you end up picking up a niggly injury because you are not match sharp.
“It is a real shame for both the clubs and the player himself as well.“
