Joe Hart ignored Celtic boss as footage re-analysed - pundit

Celtic players ignored Brendan Rodgers in their defensive set up against Feyenoord.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton suggested that the way the wall was set up for Feyenoord’s opening free kick goal goes against what Rodgers’ has the players doing in training.

As shown on TNT Sports (19 September), the Celts conceded just before half time after a Feyenoord free kick beat the wall to find the back of the net.

Kyogo Furuhashi was placed on the end of the wall and turned away as the ball came towards him and coupled with Joe Hart’s poor positioning led to the hosts taking the lead right before the break and the keeper looked visibly angry with his wall in the moments after the goal hit the back of the net.

Celtic went on to lose the game 2-0 after being reduced to nine men when Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm were sent off within five minutes of one another.

When asked if Hart was right to blame the wall, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it goes both ways.

Joe Hart sets up the wall but he needs it to be braver, if the ball is going to hit you in the face you need to just take it. You should never turn your back you are going to leave a space.

I heard Brendan Rodgers say that players sometimes make changes in games and he is alright with that as long as it works which makes me think the wall was not set up the way it was supposed to be.

I think the wall has to be really brave but I also think the goalkeeper could possibly get over a bit quicker.
