Tottenham expert slams Ange Postecoglou attitude after shortlist reveal

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou won’t care about being nominated for manager of the year.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Spurs defender Alan Hutton said Postecoglou will know that he is unlikely to win the award but the Australian isn’t phased by any positive attention.

As relayed by STV (14 September), the former Celtic boss has been nominated for FIFA’s Best Men’s Coach award and has been shortlisted alongside fellow treble-winning manager Pep Guardiola, Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti and Barcelona’s Xavi.

Postecoglou won the domestic treble with the Hoops last term clinching the league title, League Cup and Scottish Cup.

But Hutton insisted the Spurs manager won’t be dwelling on the nomination.

Off the back of a treble it was a great season for him personally and now he has moved to the Premier League at one of the top teams and has really hit the ground running,” he told Football Insider.

He has had an outstanding time and it is nice to be recognised. I do not think he will be hung up on it, he is not that kind of guy.

There are plenty managers on that shortlist who will be ahead of him and that is not something that will bother him.

I do not think he will be bothered about being nominated, even though I am sure it is nice to see your achievements recognised.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham team are unbeaten in the Premier League so far this season with four wins and a draw.

The Lilywhites sit second in the table ahead of the next round of fixtures this weekend.
