Newcastle United fan 'demands' revealed - 'people start talking,' says pundit

Newcastle United fans will not settle for anything less than a top four finish again this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton insisted Newcastle will want to be viewed as a top four team for next season and the seasons to come.

After five seasons finishing outside of the top ten in the English top flight, Eddie Howe’s side cruised to a fourth place finish in the 2022-23 campaign and secured themselves a spot in this season’s Champions League.

The Magpies drew the first game of their group stage campaign against AC Milan at the San Siro.

Howe’s side endured a difficult start to their new campaign, having lost three and won three of their first six matches.

When asked if Newcastle will be aiming for another top four finish this term, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it will be,

“It is what the fans will demand as well.

“Getting in to Europe for the first time in 20 years, into a really tough group but it is something the fans will really enjoy.

“I think the remit again will be to get back to top four and make sure you are in the bracket where people start talking about you as a top four team. That is the team they are trying to build.

“I think people got a little shock at the start of the season but they are picking up now and getting back to where they want to be.“
