Newcastle United told to complete Kieran Tierney signing after talks reveal - Agbonlahor

Newcastle need a to sign a natural left-back that can guarantee a starting place in the Champions League next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Magpies must look to replace Dan Burn and allow him to play in his natural position.

Football Insider revealed last week (6 July) that the Scotland international is set to hold a conversation with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to finalise whether or not he will stay at the Emirates.

He is a top target for Newcastle United, as first revealed by Football Insider in February, and has also been on the radar of Man City and Aston Villa.

With a potential transfer on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that Newcastle must secure another signing  at left-back and that could be Tierney.

“Newcastle need to bring in a left-back that can hold down the position,” He told Football Insider.

“Dan Burn isn’t the answer, he did do amazing, but he is not a left-back as he looks laboured out there sometimes and looks like he gives his heart and soul so he gets a starting place, as he knows he won’t play centre back.

“I think they bring in a left-back and say to Dan Burn he is third choice centre-back and second choice left-back.

“They must bring in a left-back that is guaranteed to start, as it isn’t fair constantly using a defender who prefers to be in the middle, out wide. I think it’s happening, for sure.”
