Sources: Chelsea plot raid for box-office midfielder signing as Conor Gallagher and teammate could go
Chelsea are plotting the signing another big-money midfielder in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Despite spending £106million on signing Enzo Fernandez in January, the Blues are still keen to bolster their midfield in the summer.
Connor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus Cheek are also two that could make way in summer to facilitate new additions.
Gallagher’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2025 but has been struggling for first team starts this season.
Loftus-Cheek’s deal expires in 2024 but has fallen way down the pecking order under Graham Potter and had his first start since November in the 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday (11 February).
Declan Rice is a target for the Blues, he is seen as a leader and would be a long term mainstay in the side.

The 24-year-old’s contract at West Ham runs until 2024 but has made clear his desire to play in the Champions League.
Rice has strong family roots in London and is keen to remain in the capital but he has open mind where he will end up.
The England international has rejected multiple new Irons contract offers with a summer move always on the cards.
But, as quoted by the BBC (4 February), Hammer boss David Moyes has claimed it will take a British record fee for any interested club to land the midfielder.
