Sources: Rangers still working on Morgan Whittaker deal after three bids submitted

Rangers remain in pursuit of Swansea City star Morgan Whittaker despite failing to land him in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ibrox club had bids worth £1million, £1.5million, and £2million rejected by the English Championship side for the 22-year-old.

It is understood that Rangers remain in contact with the attacking midfielder’s agent as they plot a fresh move in the summer transfer window.

Sources told this site on transfer deadline day last month (31 January) that the Glasgow giants’ move had collapsed despite agreeing personal terms with Whittaker early in the window.

He had shone during the first half of the season on loan at Plymouth, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists before being recalled by Swansea on 3 January.

The midfield ace is yet to start since returning to the Welsh club – making three substitute appearances in the Championship which total 67 minutes of action.

Whittaker, who was capped by England at Under-20 level, is under contract at Swansea until June 2025.

He made his breakthrough with cash-strapped Derby in the 2019-20 season and has now racked up more than 100 appearances in English football – scoring 20 goals.

The 22-year-old primarily plays in an attacking midfield berth but can also play on the right wing and as a second striker.

Rangers made two midfield signings in the January window, with Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell bolstering the ranks at Ibrox.

Loan star Malik Tillman is set to return to Bayern Munich when his current deal expires this summer – with their youth manager suggesting the attacking midfielder is on course to play a part in their first team.
