Sources: Newcastle and Wolves in hunt to sign Alejandro Grimaldo on summer free
Newcastle United and Wolves have joined Real Madrid and Leeds United in the hunt to sign Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Grimaldo will be available for free at the end of the season when his contract expires and is being tracked by the Spanish giants.
It is believed that a move to England is not off the cards for the 27-year-old and both Newcastle and Wolves are believed to be interested.
This comes after Football Insider revealed last week that Leeds are keeping tabs on Grimaldo as they eye up a new left-back signing.
The Spaniard has made 37 appearances for Benfica so far this season and has scored five goals and provided eight assists in those outings.
Grimaldo joined the Portuguese club from Barcelona’s youth side in 2016 and has made 286 appearances but could now leave for free at the end of the season.
