Sources: Jordan Pickford agrees £23.4million Everton deal

Jordan Pickford has agreed a new deal at Everton despite interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper is set to extend his stay at Goodison Park with a four- and-a-half year deal which will see his wages match the highest earners at the club at around £100,000-a-week.

Spurs showed interest in signing the England international but Pickford wanted to stay put in Merseyside and he is now pledging his future to the club with a new deal.

It is expected to be signed imminently, with an announcement to follow soon.

The England number one’s new deal will not include a relegation clause despite the Toffees sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

Pickford joined Everton for £25million back in 2017 after signing for the Merseyside outfit from boyhood club Sunderland.

In his six years at Goodison Park, Pickford has made 222 appearances across all competitions, keeping 59 clean sheets in the process.

Pickford has been crucial for the Toffees this season, making 22 Premier League appearances and keeping five clean sheets while conceding 30 times.

He started his career at Sunderland and broke through the club’s academy in 2011.

The Black Cats sent the young goalkeeper on six separate loan spells during his early years at the club, but Pickford eventually worked his way into the first-team picture at the Stadium of Light in the 2016/17 season.

A move to Everton followed, and Pickford also asserted himself as England’s No.1 after making his international debut in 2017 and being called up for 2018 World Cup by Gareth Southgate.
