Sources: Salzburg agree to sign 'next Mario Mandzukic' after Rangers interest revealed
Young Serbian talent Petar Ratkov is set to move to Red Bull Salzburg in the coming days amid interest from Premier League clubs and Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.
Ratkov had received offers from English clubs and although the Gers did not make an official offer, they were interested in a deal.
The 19-year-old has instead chosen to join Salzburg and has agreed terms on a four-year deal.
The striker has featured heavily for Serbia’s under-21s side and has been described as the “next Mario Mandzukic” due to his playing style and physical similarities to the national team legend.
Ratkov’s current contract at FK TSC Backa Topola runs until 2024.
The attacked made 40 appearances for the Serbian side across all competitions this season, netting 14 goals and offering up five assists in those outings.

Ratkov has featured for Serbia at youth level but is yet to make his senior team debut.
He’s scored one goal in six outings for the Under-21s side when he feature in their international friendlies last year.
Rangers, who had an interest in Ratkov, have been looking to bolster their front line after the departure of goalscorer Alfredo Morelos.
On Wednesday (14 June), Football Insider revealed that Sam Lammers is undergoing a medical at Ibrox after agreeing terms on a four-year deal with the Glasgow club.
It is believed a £3million bid for the forward has been accepted by Atalanta as Lammers closes in on a move to Ibrox.
