Sources: Newcastle United to finalise Sandro Tonali deal today after agreement reached

Newcastle United are set to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan in a deal worth around £60million, sources have told Football Insider.

Tonali has agreed personal terms on a deal running until 2029 and the details are set to be finalised on Thursday (22nd June).

On Wednesday (21 June), Football Insider revealed that the Magpies have been pushing to complete the signing of Tonali.

The player’s representatives have been in talks with the north east giants for over a week and Tonali is keen on a move to the English top flight.

Whilst AC Milan were believed to have been holding out for an offer closer to £80m, Football Insider has learned that Eddie Howe’s side are set to sign the midfielder for £60.3m.

The 23-year-old’s current contract in Italy runs until 2027 after he penned an extension in September last year.

Premier League rivals Chelsea had also enquired about the conditions of a potential deal for the midfielder and had reached out to his representatives.

The Blues had been open to including Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a deal for Tonali but the player now looks set to join the Toon this summer.

The midfielder made 48 appearances for the Serie A giants across all competitions this season, notching two goals and ten assists in those outings.

The Magpies are set to strengthen this summer after securing Champions League football for the 2023-24 season following an immensely successful league campaign.
