Sources: Liverpool working on Thuram deal after talks begin
Liverpool are hoping to sign Nice star Khephren Thuram as talks continue, sources have told Football Insider.
The star wants the move and the Reds are pushing hard to secure a full agreement and sources have said Liverpool hope to complete a deal for Thuram.
That would be a big blow to Newcastle United, who have also expressed an interest in a deal.
On 18 June, Football Insider revealed that Eddie Howe’s side are turning their attention to alternative targets after receiving no encouragement in their pursuit of Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella.
Thuram is admired by the Magpies and the club are in the market for a box-office midfielder signing this summer.
The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the French giants after signing an extension in 2021.

On 22 June, Football Insider revealed that the Merseysiders have been in preliminary talks over a deal for the 22-year-old with Nice keen for a bidding war to emerge over their star midfielder.
Thuram made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side this season and netted two goals and provided eight assists in those outings.
Liverpool have already secured the services of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister after he signed from Brighton and will officially join the Reds on 1 July.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to add more midfield recruits as part of a massive summer rebuild after a disappointing domestic and European campaign in the 2022-23 season.
